"Doodle" is a 3D animated short designed for the CGT 411/450 senior research and design capstone course at Purdue University. Developed by a core group of four students under the guise of Rubber Ducky Studios, LLC., "Doodle" was designed to test, quantify, and understand audiences perceptions of stereoscopic 3D films. At the same time, we aimed to eliminate several of the common problems inherent in 3D, including eye strain and loss of depth perception. While the video below is presented in the traditional 2D format, audiences were testing utilizing active-sync stereo equipment courtesy of Purdue University's Envision Center, similar to the passive stereo glasses used in 3D theaters throughout the world.
